Off soon
Just a few days to go now before Helen and I are off to India.
We are so excited about going to see Janaki again (Helen for the first time).
I a really excited about simply being back in India.
It truly is the most wondrous place that the sun sees as it travels it's rounds.

Fundraising
Myself, Andy Frost of Share Jesus International and Emerging Culture and our friends at Cred (Justin and James) are aiming to raise some money to help support Janaki in building an orphanage.

Last year I visited India and I met an amazing woman calkled Janaiki who has opened her house look after the street children - many of whom are AIDS orphans.
She has so many kids now that she needs an orphanage... and this means she needs money.
In total I need to try and raise £18k for the land and a three storey building. so, do you wanna help me? Best of all...
...All the money goes DIRECT to Janaiki’s work – no middle man - all your money will go direct to the orphanage project.
...It’s simple! Just email me and I will send you a form with more info which you can print off, fill in andthen put it in the post! (If you email more info - there is no pressure to give!)
...You can Gift Aid it! So, 28% extra is added to your gift!
You will be glad to know that you don’t have to sponsor me to jump off any cliffs or run over mountains - I do that for free! But I do care passionately about what this woman is doing, work that no else is involved with. I would love it if you would join with me in supporting these children.

Flooding update: Janaki writes
Here the water flood is slowly drying and the water ids going back. But people are suffring with desieages and musqito fevers like Chiken Guniya and dengu fevers. theses two are dangrous.
tomorrow we are going to distribuet some mediciens to those people who are suffring with desieges due to poluted water.Today i bought some emdiciens to give them. now i am in Eluru town.

Flooding
This is an email I recieved last week... Janaki writes...
My dear brothers John and Andy In Christ, My brothers here it is bad cylone and flooding. Many down stayed village people are in water and suffring very lot.
And we may be face another cylone in comming few hours. If it happen many will suffer with flood.
because of water all these are suffring for food and drinking water and incresing dieseges.
many places not having power and and not working phone lines.
Today I went to one of our church people village which is near to Machilipatnam town to visit them. Now they are all in water and suffring.
now i am writing from that town now.
If the second cylone comes they all leave to that place immidiatly and need to go to other place for secuer. Please pray my friends.

Clothes Business
Janaki has recently asked me to think about a new idea that she has had. As some of you may know she runs vocational training programmes for young women in tailoring and sewing and stitching. This allows these ladies to get employment where before they would have had no skills and poor prospects of finding work.
Janaki's idea is that she can set up a small business to support and employ some of these ladies herself. She would like to import some material from countries where it is fairly cheap, get the workers to make the material into clothes, T-shirts etc, and then export these clothes to other countries to make some money.
As yet the idea is still new but hopefully she will be able to send over some samples of clothes and provide more details of costs and so on.
Janaki has asked me to see if there are any UK businesses that would be interested in buying from her. Also I think that there may well be scope for some UK churches suporting her in this work by buying some stock and selling it at events or on market stalls etc.
If you have any contacts in the clothing business that may be interested in this project then please get in touch (johnrodgers@gmail.com) or if your church might be interested then please let me know.
